Ayurveda is an ancient health system that was developed by sages in India thousands of years ago. The science of life (Ayur = life; Veda = science or knowledge) is guided by two principles: 1) The mind and body are inextricably connected, and 2) Nothing heals the body more than the mind. When there is harmony between the body and the mind, you experience balanced doshas – and thus, optimal health.
Doshas are the energies that govern each individual’s makeup and change constantly based on weather, conditions, stress, and the like. We all have a dominant dosha that indicates our unique energy patterns and influences our respective physical, mental, emotional, and relational characteristics. These Ayurvedic Vial Pendants were crafted in correspondence to each of the three doshas, and contain herbs and oils specific to each one. Vata: Vata translates to “wind”, and it reflects the elements of ether and air. This dosha is the energy of movement, the force governing all biological activity. Known as the “king of the doshas”, vata directly influences and gives motion to pitta and kapha. This vial is composed of ashwagandha, a powerful herb revered for its rejuvenating and energy-inducing properties, and a drop of cardamom essential oil, which is known to bring forth love, relaxation, and mental clarity.
Pitta: Pitta, when translated, means “that which cooks”, and it reflects the elements of fire and water. Pitta governs all processes related to conversion and transformation throughout the mind and body. This energy governs joy, courage, willpower, and the radiant light of intellect. This vial contains the gotu kola, known for its ability to assist with issues of fatigue and anxiety and improve memory and intelligence. This vial also contains a drop of coriander essential oil, which is used to call in vitality and passion.
Kapha: Kapha, when translated, means “that which sticks”, and it reflects the elements of earth and water. Kapha is the energy of building and lubrication; it provides the body with physical form, structure, and smooth functioning of all parts. This dosha is thought of as the essential cement, or glue, of the body – that which holds it all together as one. This vial is composed of ginger, for an infusion of warmth, power, and energy, and a drop of turmeric essential oil, which is associated with fertility and health.
