We had this maple wood herb grinder custom-engraved with our Sage Goddess Apothecary logo. When you open it, you’ll find metal pegs designed to gently grind your favorite greenery. Just pop in the herbs, give the grinder a few twists, and you’ll have a loose incense blend of your own making!

Today, we know this process as smudging, and it remains a critical first step in any sacred ritual. We always recommend smudging to purify your sacred space before ceremony or meditation.

The Properties of Maple Wood

Maple is an extremely hard, strong wood that brings the promise of longevity, protection, and good intentions. The maple tree is a well-known symbol of the changing seasons, and its brilliant orange and red leaves are an iconic symbol of the fall. In the spring, the maple is one of the first trees to bud, signaling the arrival of new life with its small red blossoms.

How to work with this SG Herb Grinder

Work with this SG Herb Grinder to create fine loose incense out of your favorite herbs — a few of our top choices are lavender, rosemary, and sage! For fresh sprigs, you’ll first want to remove the leaves with our Angel Aura Quartz Herb Stripper.

Burn your freshly ground herbs on top of a charcoal disk as incense, or sprinkle them across your altar as an offering of the earth element. However you choose to work with this offering, may it serve you well. And so it is.
