The word “Hamsa” literally translates to “five” and refers to the number of fingers on the hand, each representing a blessing: Health, wealth, fertility, joy, and success. An alternative Islamic name for this charm is the Hand of Fatima, in reference to the daughter of Mohammed. Also in Islamic tradition, it represents the five pillars of Islam: Faith, prayer, alms, fasting, and pilgrimage. Its Jewish name is the Hand of Miriam, in reference to the sister of Moses and Aaron. The Hamsa provides defense against negativity and psychic attacks, while also bringing blessings, power, and strength. One (1) smoky quartz 12-pointed star (about 0.5-1”). This is the centerpiece of your grid. Smoky quartz is my partner in magic. It’s a protective and grounding Root Chakra stone that transmutes negative energy and purifies your aura. It’s a powerful healer that absorbs the energies the body cannot take or hold on its own.
