Lightning strike quartz is very rare and comes from only one place in the entire world. There is a mountain range in Brazil known as the Serra de Espinhaco which is frequently hit with orographic thunderstorms and spectacular lightning strikes. For years, miners have reported finding unique “flash stones” in this area. These stones are actually clear quartz specimens that have been repeatedly hit by this orographic lightning.
The intense heating and cooling, combined with the electrical charge and high pressure of the lightning, create a characteristic zig-zag pattern on the surface of the crystal. The unique patterns you see on these beauties can only be caused by this unique set of circumstances. These tools are truly special works of art, created by Mother Earth herself.

I purchased Lightning Quartz during a gem sale. To my surprise the wand Athena is holding in the photo is the exact piece I received. It truly felt vibrational. I love it! Sadly, during the Libra Full Moon a lightning storm hit, and my wand was actually broken in two (I had it sitting on my porch to catch the moonlight). I still use it even though I now have two pieces.
