Medicine Wheel Gem Sets to invoke the Cardinal Directions

I am pleased to offer you the newest version of my Medicine Wheel gem sets! As many of you know, my tradition is steeped in my native heritage, and I know many of you resonate with this. So no matter of you’re a new follower, or someone well practiced, these sets are for everyone.

The Native American Medicine Wheel is a sacred symbol of life, of our planet, of our connection to our ancestors and Spirit. And it represents the four cardinal elements and four directions. In Native tradition, the four colors of the four directions are deeply symbolic, holding the energies of those spaces and all they represent. Also, the four directions of the wheel can also be seen to represent:

Stages of life – Birth, youth, adult (or elder), death
Seasons of the year – Spring, summer, winter, fall
Aspects of life – Spiritual, emotional, intellectual, physical
Elements of nature – Fire (or sun), air, water, and earth
Totem animals – Eagle, bear, wolf, buffalo, whale, and many others
Sacred ceremonial plants – Tobacco, sweet grass, sage, cedar

When I created these Medicine Wheel gem sets, which come with four gemstones in each set for each direction in aligned colors of red, yellow, white and black, along with a large selenite wand to clear, balance, and charge the gems, I wanted the energy to be peaceful and yet strong. You can work with them in meditation, circle casting, and elemental ritual.

The stones of Medicine Wheel gem sets

North

First, North, the direction of the Elders, of great wisdom and discernment. North is about wisdom, elder council, connection the Earth and Druid/Faerie magick. White represents this cardinal direction on the wheel. And the stones of this set are: magnesite, white agate, scolecite, and clear quartz. These are stones of clarity, spiritual connection, and wisdom. To work with North, repeat this mantra in a daily meditation with the North tools: “I am supported by Mother Earth. She bears my weight and I thank her. As long as I am connected to the Earth, I am safe, secure, and cared for. I surrender, and I ask to be imparted to the Divine wisdom of the Earthy realms. So it is.”

South

Next, the South. This represents the element of fire, as well as strong power and courage. And Summer is the season of the Direction of South on the Lakota Medicine Wheel. It is associated with the color red. So the stones of the South are: red jasper, fire agate, red aventurine, and carnelian. These stones are meant to ground you in the transformation heat and fires of the South. To work with South, repeat this mantra in a daily meditation with the South tools: “I am warm and I am safe. I am love and I am fire. I allow the fire of South to transform me, and I will rise from the flames like a phoenix reborn in Divinity. So it is.” 

West

Now, onto West, where we encounter the element of water, and the setting sun. West brings us to the ocean, our vast and luminous seascape where we can surrender all, and where all flows to us effortlessly. The color black represents west on the Medicine Wheel, and thus the stones of this set are: obsidian, hypersthene, black tourmaline, and black kyanite. To work with West, repeat this mantra in a daily meditation with the West tools: “I allow my path to unfold, I trust in perfect timing, and I surrender to the divine flow of life and energy. All I need is already on its way. Everything I desire flows effortlessly toward me. So it is.”

East

Finally, in the East we find new beginnings, possibility and the dawn of all that is fresh. Here we connect with Air and the spirits of eagle and hawk. We turn to the East for the season of Spring as the sun returns to us. And yellow represents this direction, thus the stones of the East are: yellow jasper, yellow fluorite, citrine, and yellow aventurine. These stones are meant to empower you, bring you to the present moment, and inspire you to grow and stand tall in your own light. To work with East, repeat this mantra in a daily meditation with the East tools: “I am strong, and I am perfect as I am. I am present in this moment. I am one with the winds and with the free flying bird spirits. I am all and I am nothing. I am the wind. So it is.”
