Since ancient times, our ancestors have burned sacred herbs and resins, believing the sacred smoke to raise vibrations, dispel negativity, and assist with spiritual work. Today, we know this process as smudging, and it remains a critical first step in any sacred ritual. I smudge daily to purify my sacred space before ritual, ceremony, or meditation. It’s an integral part of my spiritual practice – in fact, it’s what this community was built upon!

You will receive the following tools:

One (1) onyx smudging bowl (about 10”). Onyx keeps you focused, helping you realign perceptions and actions to become a master of self. It purifies your thoughts and inner monologue, encouraging you to think more positively. Onyx also attracts good luck and abundance and boosts resilience through challenges and transformation. Work with this bowl to hold your palo santo, mini white sage bundle, and other herbs, or to charge your crystals.

One (1) stick of palo santo (about 3”). Palo santo is a sacred wood that grows in South America. When Spanish monks discovered its clearing and healing properties, they named it Palo Santo which means “holy wood.” Shamans have worked with palo santo medicine for thousands of years. It’s physically and spiritually cleansing, enhances clarity, restores tranquility, promotes joy, and inspires creativity. Palo santo also deepens your connection with Divine Source and enhances meditation. The attraction to its fragrance is said to be a sign of spiritual and emotional purity.

At Sage Goddess, we only use sustainably sourced palo santo wood and oils. Our Peruvian partners only harvest wood that has died naturally and has been dead for at least 5 years. We never harm living trees! The dead wood is collected, cleaned and cut by hand. In addition, we are committed to replanting trees in the forests where we find our wood. This ensures that our palo santo forests are not susceptible to over-harvesting.

One (1) mini white sage bundle (about 4.5”). White sage is a sacred herb that’s been used for centuries by elders to clear and consecrate space. The smoke of ceremonial white sage, in particular, is said to draw positive spirits and discourage the presence of any unwanted energy. Most people find the scent grounding and centering.
