This month, explore the Magic of Persia with our Persia Full Moon: Festival of Rain Set.

Join us as we journey together at the full moon and honor the Zoroastrian Festival of Rain, also known as Tirgan. This festival is celebrated in ancient Iran to honor Archangel Tishtrya. Tishtrya is the deity of the star Sirius and keeper of rain. Legend has it that Tishtrya, in the form of a white horse, fought his antithesis, the demon Apaosha in his form of a black horse during the dry and hot summer month of July. If Tishtrya brought healing rains, Apaosha brought drought. As faith in Archangel Tishtrya diminished amongst the people, their prayers also faltered, giving Apaosha strength as Tishtrya weakened. Upon his last plea, in his most vulnerable state, Tishtrya appealed to Creator Ahura Mazda. Creator Ahura Mazda then offered him a sacrifice, and Tishtrya won the battle against Apaosha. The Zoroastrian Festival of Rain honors the importance of offerings and sacrifice of our own faith and spiritual practices. It highlights the importance of giving as well as receiving – to always practice gratitude and pay it forward. These small things are beautiful sacrifices we can do every day, and on this day, these sacrifices are celebrated and returned with fertile and healing rains.

The tools in my Persia Full Moon: Festival of Rain Set

One (1) 6 oz poured Rainfall Candle, hand-poured with deep stormy grey-blue soy wax, and infused with a clear quartz chip stone to amplify and magnify all your magical intentions.

One (1) 15 ml Tishtrya Perfume, with soothing and uplifting notes of rose, jasmine, and orange blossom. Orange blossom brings the mind, body, and spirit into the present moment, jasmine attracts love and invokes prophetic visions, and the delicate essence of rose de mai encourages happiness and contentment. Everything necessary for the growth and abundance that Tishtrya bestows is found in this bottle. Each bottle is infused with a green aventurine chip stone to further amplify properties of prosperity, fertility, and abundance.

One (1) paua shell (about 1″). Paua is considered a symbol of the eyes, windows to the soul, and is said to be a tool that helps the ancestors see you. These sacred watery pieces have intense watery vibration. Keep one in your medicine bag or your altar, and let the eyes of ancients be upon you, guiding you always.

One (1) onyx horse (about 4.25 cm), to represent Tishtrya in his horse form. Use this talisman connect with you with the healing energies of the Persian archangel of rain.

One (1) intuitively chosen sari silk ribbon (about 10″) to tie around your wrist with me, during our full moon celebration. It’s tradition to tie multi-colored ribbons around your wrists for 10 days, and then discard them into a stream during the festival.

One (1) tumbled yellow opal (about 1”). Opals are connected to the water element. Yellow opals are specifically for harmonizing our emotions. They can help us increase our positive thinking, because as we think, so we behave.

One (1) tumbled moss agate (about 1”). This stone brings grounding, peace, and stability. Moss agate tempers mood swings, instills patience and encourages more determination to handle all of life’s challenges.
