Each year in September in Ancient Greece began the season of the sacred descent of Persephone to the Underworld, abandoning her mother in the Upper World and preparing the Earth for the season of winter. To honor this passage, initiates would walk the Iera Odos or Sacred Way from Kerameikos, the ancient Athenian cemetery in Athens, to Eleusis, the city of paradise and eternal life. This 11 mile walk was a pilgrimage through which the initiate would experience the deepest and most powerful transformation possible for a living human, and emerge on the other side whole, changed, purified, and prepared for eternal life after death.
Some part of this work is ours to do next year, and I have been called upon to create a perfume to honor our own descent and journey to paradise together. This is Part I of what will unfold in 2020. This perfume has to be created and shipped to you before the Fall Equinox, before Persephone leaves her mother, before she eats of the seeds of the fruit of life (pomegranate) that assure her ability to walk between the worlds eternally.
The notes in Sacred Way are Pomegranate, which represents the fruit of wisdom and the seeds Persephone consumed to bind her to Hades in the lower realm from Fall to Spring Equinox. Then, Mitti Attar and pure earth notes represent the lower world and shadow energies that surround and transform you from within. Belladonna in this blend represents the Greater Mysteries, while Cypress represents the Lesser Mysteries.
There is no label on this bottle because no image could possibly do justice to the energy.

As soon as Athena mentioned it I knew I had to add it to my cart. It’s like 2 perfumes in one. The pomegranate hits you with it’s juicy sweetness but then there’s a sultry sexiness to it that reminds me of vanilla-ed tobacco. First of all, I could feel Athena and her gratitude through the packaging. I felt “Thank you so much for coming with me on this journey.” I have to say thank YOU!! This is such an earthy, sensual, sweet, loving perfume. I agree that no art would do it justice, although I can see one.
I can see Persephone and Demeter leaving an embrace as Persephone walks towards Hades in the underworld. Pomegranate in her hand. Beautiful pink and purple sky ombred as the sun is setting. The North Star above.
I’m in Soul Shift and I leaned in, and it was a yes! I’m glad I was able to purchase it. I feel held, so gently with this perfume; with this lovely Earthy fragrance. I feel loved, held and accepted.
As I get emotional saying this right now, it’s not something that I felt very frequently as a child. I feel like Sacred Way is so familiar to me. Perhaps it is. I’m excited to do this work.
I let my best friend smell it and it resonated with her and she’s not even in Soul shift. I asked her what she felt and she said she felt love and hugged. I bought her a bottle because she said she wanted one and I felt called to do so. I can imagine next year, if you’re guided Athena, and how amazing that would be for 2021!!
If not, it’s still my favorite thus far and I will charish it all the same!!! I love wearing it. I feel so held. Like nothing I’ve felt before.

Just want to say I cherish this perfume and use it sparingly. This is the first real earthy perfume that I am like completely in love with. You can smell both the earthyness and the sweetness from the pomegranate. True heaven and it\’s sexyness in a bottle. I am going to hate to run out of this.
