My Desert Dream Oud Bakhoor is BACK! It’s handcrafted right here at Sage Goddess Headquarters and was originally created to commemorate Sage Goddess’ 10th anniversary and the long journey that brought us to where we are today. A decade ago, the idea for Sage Goddess came to me in a dream in the desert. In this dream, I created a company that revolved around my spiritual practice – a community that honored the beauty, ritual, and exploration that already encompassed my everyday life. This Desert Dream Oud Bakhoor is inspired by that very first spark that led me to begin this excursion. It’s also a reminder that none of it would be possible without you.

The deeper magic of my Desert Dream Oud Bakhoor

Did you know that incense was the first form of perfume? The word “perfume” literally means “through smoke,” and our ancestors used incense to scent their bodies. Ancient Egyptians and Romans would “perfume” the air with the incense they burned. They believed that the sacred smoke of incense would raise all surrounding vibrations and assist them in their magical practice. Burning incense is a great way to smudge and it connects us with the ancients in a powerful and beautiful way.

Bakhoor, or bukhoor, is an ancient form of incense. The Arabic word “bakhoor” translates to “fumes” and refers to a blend of natural traditional ingredients that have been infused with fragrant oils and other natural ingredients. These are mainly wood chips such as oud, agarwood, or aloeswood. Bakhoor is used to aid meditation in many Asian countries, where it can often be found burning in homes and temples.

Oud originates from the wood of the agar tree, which is also known as “the wood of the gods.” It connects you with upper chakra energies, activates light codes, increases focus, and helps you attain deep meditative states and connect to higher realms. Musk is hailed as a love oil – arousing passion and heightening sexual pleasure. It also produces a meditative effect and helps reduce stress. The aroma of amber is warm, musky, rich, sweet, and spicy. Amber is regarded as a “fire oil” and brings balance, harmony, and inspiration to the soul. It’s associated with the Sun and connects you with your inner force of will, calling in the warmth, security, and courage that light energy can bring. It also cleanses the chakras, calms the mind, protects the heart, and heightens libido.
